The body-building community has begun to recognise the benefits of matcha. Bodybuilding.com, for example, has recently featured an article extolling some of these benefits, including:

  • Very high antioxidant levels, including catechin EGCG, a polyphenol undergoing clinical trials as a cancer inhibitor and protector against heart disease;
  • High levels of amino acid l-theanine, found to reduce physiological stress effects, and counteracting the jittery effects of caffeine; and
  • Properties that inhibit the intestinal absorption of dietary fat, cholesterol and other lipids, potentially helping keep fat and cholesterol levels down, if consumed as part of a healthy diet and training regime.

These are nutritional qualities that help maintain excellent health for optimal living.
